Another feather in the Apple iPhone Cap, it has now crossed Microsoft’s Windows Mobile in sales. With just 2 models out in the market the iPhone 3G and the 3GS, Apple has managed to beat a veteran in the smartphone industry – Windows Mobile! iPhone has taken 13.7% of GLOBAL smartphone sales in Q2 2009 compared to Windows Mobile’s 9% share in sales.

Apple has sold 5.2million iPhones in Q2 alone and the momentum is rising in Q3 with Apple facing stock shortage of iPhone 3GS, owing to increasing global demand. On the other hand Microsoft hopes to roll out Windows Mobile version 6.5 later this year to compete with the rising competition that Android and iPhone have created.

“Apple has revolutionized the smart phone sector, leapfrogging more experienced rivals,” Canalys senior analyst Pete Cunningham said in the company’s report.

While the Zune HD is quite up to date with features and has things that the Apple iPod lineup lacks … like the FM, the OS x and UI with the AppStore might be Apple’s best bet. And who knows you might well see those Camera iPods from Apple coming up. But one thing is clear here! Apple is gearing up to steal Microsoft’s thunder with its iPod event on Sept 9th…

The 8GB Zune HD is $100 cheaper than the current 8GB iPod touch 2G. But Apple has over 60000 apps loaded on the iTunes AppStore that can be a game changer here. How many times has it happened that a killer product comes in and loses out against Apple iTouch just because of that extra leverage from the App Store? Will the iPod touch 3G come up strongly against the Zune HD? or its the App Store that will rescue the iPod touch?

Another free theme via Cydia, the Matte Nano has a nice plan background with some sober icons. The entire layout gives a matte feel , something for individuals who don’t want too fancy look.

YouTube recently revealed in its blog that within days of its launch iPhone 3GS increased video uploads from mobile uploads by 400% on the site.

Google has announced that uploads from mobile phones to YouTube have increased by 400% since last Friday, when Apple’s new iPhone 3GS went on sale. The handset lets users shoot video clips and upload them directly to the video-sharing site.

In the last six months, uploads from mobile phones to YouTube have jumped 1,700%; just since last Friday, when the iPhone 3GS came out, uploads have increased by 400%.
